General Info

Sheka Coffee Farms & Ethiopian Restaurant sits quietly at 141 Easterly Rd, Roundhay, Leeds LS8 2RY, and from the moment you step inside, it feels like a place built around comfort, culture, and food that tells a story. This Ethiopian restaurant has a cosy atmosphere that encourages you to slow down, settle in, and enjoy the experience rather than rush through a meal.

The menu focuses on traditional Ethiopian flavours, with dishes designed for sharing and discovery. One of the standout choices is the Mixed Shared Platter, a generous spread that brings several tastes together on one plate. It’s the kind of dish that works perfectly for groups or anyone wanting to explore different textures and spices in one sitting. Alongside it, the Full Lentil made with 100% Ethiopian gluten-free teff is a favourite for those seeking something wholesome and naturally satisfying. The Split Pea dish and the earthy Bet Root Dish add depth to the menu, offering balanced flavours that feel both hearty and nourishing.

Snacks and lighter bites also have their place here. Popcorn, prepared in a distinctly Ethiopian style, works well as a casual starter or something to enjoy alongside a drink. Alcohol is available, making it easy to pair your meal with something refreshing while you relax in the warm surroundings.

Accessibility and comfort are clearly part of the restaurant’s approach. The wheelchair-accessible entrance makes the space welcoming to all guests, while the overall layout keeps things intimate without feeling cramped. For diners looking for healthier meals, the menu includes plenty of healthy options, and the strong selection of vegetarian options ensures that plant-based diners feel just as catered to as everyone else.

Location-wise, being in Roundhay makes this restaurant easy to reach for locals and visitors alike. Reviews often highlight the friendly feel of the space and the sense that the food is prepared with care rather than shortcuts. It’s not just about eating; it’s about experiencing Ethiopian hospitality in a relaxed Leeds setting.

Whether you’re visiting for a quiet evening meal or introducing friends to Ethiopian cuisine for the first time, this restaurant delivers an experience that feels genuine, comforting, and thoughtfully put together from the menu to the service.

“ We found Sheka by chance but it looked intriguing so we decided to try it. Sheka has a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere with very friendly service. The coffee is very nice and the sharing platter is highly recommended. We never had Ethiopian food before but we loved the combination of different stewed lentils and vegetables on top of the Injera. We enjoyed the experience so much we are now planning a trip to Ethiopia. ”

- William Pattle -

“ We came as a family group for lunch after a long journey, and one of our friends recommended this Ethiopian restaurant along the way. At first, we were a bit hesitant, but he assured us the food was fantastic, and he was absolutely right! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the warm ambiance and the attentive staff (Rahel). The food was incredible — every dish was flavorful, the injera blew us away as it remained us the authentic Ethiopian injera. The coffee was outstanding. It was so good that we actually ended up planning for the next day! To be honest, we were supposed to have breakfast at our hotel, since it was included, but the food was so delicious that we skipped it and returned to the restaurant for another amazing meal. We couldn’t be happier with our decision and will definitely be back next time! A big thank you for Rahel for the amazing hospitality and making us feel home. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to experience authentic Ethiopian cuisine. ”
